Spinal Adjustments

What Are Spinal Adjustments?

Spinal adjustments, or spinal manipulations, are the cornerstone of chiropractic care—these precise and controlled movements correct misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations. By realigning the spine, spinal adjustments can help restore proper function to the nervous system and improve overall health.

Benefits of Spinal Adjustments

Pain Relief

Spinal adjustments alleviate back, neck, and other body pain.

Improved Mobility

Adjustments enhance the range of motion and flexibility.

Better Posture

Adjustments also correct postural imbalances and support proper alignment.

Nerve Function

Adjustments reduce nerve irritation and promote optimal nervous system function.

Overall Wellness

They also encourage the body's natural healing processes and boost overall health.

Conditions Treated

Spinal adjustments can be effective for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Herniated discs
  • Scoliosis
  • Sports injuries
  • Whiplash

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

What Is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy?

Deep tissue laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused light to penetrate deep into the tissues, promoting healing at a cellular level. This advanced therapy reduces inflammation, alleviates pain, and accelerates healing.

Benefits of Deep-Tissue Laser Therapy

Pain Reduction

Laser therapy provides significant relief from acute and chronic pain.

Anti-Inflammatory

It decreases inflammation and swelling in the affected area.

Enhanced Healing

Laser therapy speeds up the body's natural healing process.

Improved Circulation

It increases blood flow to the treated area, enhancing tissue repair.

Non-Invasive

Laser therapy offers a safe and effective alternative to surgery and medications.

Conditions Treated

Deep-tissue laser therapy can be beneficial for various conditions, including the following:

  • Muscle strains and sprains
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sports injuries
  • Post-surgical recovery

Spinal Decompression

What is DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy?

DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is FDA cleared and has shown clinical promise with an 86% success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs in one study (http://www.therunningdoctor.com/report.pdf) ... even after failed surgery. It is a non-surgical, traction therapy for the relief of back and leg pain or neck and arm pain. During this procedure, by cycling through distraction and relaxation phases and by proper positioning, a spinal disc can be isolated and placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it.

What can this vacuum effect do?

The vacuum effect accomplishes two things. From a mechanical standpoint, disc material that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines of the disc can be pulled back within the disc by the vacuum created within the disc. Also, the vacuum within the disc stimulates growth of blood supply, secondarily stimulating a healing response. This results in pain reduction and proper healing at the injured site.

What system is used for this purpose?

After a significant amount of research, Garrett Chiropractic Clinic chose the Triton® DTS™ system manufactured by the Chattanooga Group, the premier manufacturer of physical medicine equipment. With its unparalleled design, proven history and the Chattanooga Group behind it, the Triton® DTS™ system is the gold standard in decompressive traction therapy. We also selected this system due to its ability to treat discs in both the neck and the low back.

How is Spinal Decompression Therapy different from regular traction?

The Triton® DTS™ computer is the key. It controls the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression and eliminating muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices. The preprogrammed patterns for ramping up and down the amount of axial distraction allows for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc rehydration.

Who can benefit from Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

Are there medical studies that document the effectiveness of Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Most certainly! One study documented by MRI up to 90% reduction of disc herniations in 10 of 14 cases! Another study reported that 86% of ruptured disc patients achieved "good" (50-89% improvement) to "excellent (90-100% improvement) results after spinal decompression therapy!

You are not a candidate for Spinal Decompression if:

  • You have had previous surgery with hardware such as metal plates.
  • You are pregnant.
  • You have sustained recent vertebral fracture.
  • You suffer from severe osteoporosis.

Are the sessions painful, how many will be needed and what is the cost?

In almost all cases, the treatments are completely painless. In fact, some patients fall asleep during the spinal decompression session.

The specific treatment plan will be determined by the doctor after your examination. Based on current research, the best results have been achieved utilizing 20 sessions (about $100 each) over a 6-week period. Based on that most common protocol, the total cost of the DTS treatments would be around $2,000.00. Some of the cost may be covered for patients with Health insurance that includes Chiropractic coverage, our staff would be happy to check your benefits.

Do most patients receive therapy and rehabilitative exercises in addition to Spinal Decompression Therapy?

To reduce inflammation and assist the healing process, supporting structures are treated with passive therapies (ice/heat/muscle stimulation), chiropractic adjustments (as indicated) and/or active rehabilitation in order to strengthen the spinal musculature.
